Invitation to Conference "Infrastructure and Energy Sector Adaptation to Climate Change"
On Friday, March 20th a conference "Infrastructure and energy sector adaptation to climate change" will take place at Hotel Europe (Paadi 5, Tallinn), as part of the current strategy development "Estonian National Climate change adaptation strategy and implementation plan." The conference is especially directed on experts working on topics of climate change adaptation, yet interested journalists are welcome.
Within the conference, Mari Jüssi, senior expert of Stockholm Environment Institute Tallinn Centre, discusses climate change effects on transport sector; climate change effects on fuel supply security will be analysed by Andres Annuk, professor and head of the department of Energy at the Technical Instute of the Estonian University of Life Sciences. The effects of climate change on heating and cooling sector are to be evaluated by Alo Allik, the Phd student and planning specialist of distributed generation at Estonian University of Life Sciences. In addition, climate change effects will be mapped in four different areas – transport infrastructure, power generation and –networks, buildings, heat generation and cooling. According to the selected impacts of climate change, the measures which may help to adapt to climate change in these areas will be discussed.
The conference will be implemented with the support of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 program "Integrated management of marine and inland water" and as part of the predefined project "Estonian National Climate change adaptation strategy and implementation plan". One part of the latter is the project of "Estonian infrastructure and energy sector adaptation to climate change", lead by the Stockholm Environment Institute Tallinn Centre. The aim of the mentioned project is to ensure that the climate change adaptation activities will be taken thoughtfully and coordinately.
